Puddle of Mudd
"Striking That Familiar Chord" (Eagle Vision)
**2.5 out of 5 Stars**

Frontman Wes Scantlin has always been able to write a good angst-scalded melody, as evidenced by the fact that a couple of his best songs stand up surprisingly well as acoustic performances at this L.A. club gig. The band is captured in this setting from multiple camera angles, and the disc does boast top-notch sound quality, if not quite top-notch rocking. With nearly two hours of material in all, including a full electric set and an interview with the band members, this DVD is something Puddle fans can hardly do without.
SCENE STEALER: Lead guitarist Paul Phillips tastefully gilds Scantlin standouts like 'Nobody Told Me'. Meanwhile, guitarist Duane Betts, son of Dickey, guests on 'Drift & Die'. Derek Trucks he's not, but he gets the job done.*
