A
return
to
form
after
the
last
album
worth
of
filler.
This
record
finds
the
band
sounding
more
playful
and
diverse
as
they
stay
inside
the
conformities
of
the
post
grunge/modern
rock
world.
One
big
improvement
is
that
the
songs
have
a
hook
this
time
around
where
they
couldn't
buy
a
hook
on
Life
On
Display.
"Moonshine"
is
a
good
song
the
reminds
me
of
Nirvana
but
the
catchier
more
accessible
side
of
the
band
that
made
guitars
cool
again
in
mainstream
rock.
Wes
has
figured
out
how
to
write
material
this
time
around
that
isn't
flat
and
full
of
plodding
dullness.
That
skill
shines
through
on
the
excellent
single
"Famous"
one
of
my
favorite
tracks
of
the
year
so
far.
The
mid
section
of
the
album
gets
a
little
mellow
but
"Thinking
About
You"
holds
it
all
together
by
being
an
excellent
mid-paced
ballad
with
a
memorable
chorus.
This
is
sure
to
be
a
hit
for
the
band
I
can't
see
it
not
being
a
big
success
on
radio.
Picking
up
the
pace
finally
is
"Merry
Go
Round"
which
has
snotty
little
swagger
and
again
a
good
chorus/verse/Chorus/Verse
and
the
manic
attack
of
their
grunge
peers
is
present.
I
hear
touches
of
STP
on
this
track
for
sure.
Another
song
worth
mentioning
is
"Livin'
On
Borrowed
Time"
which
is
a
strong
song
again
has
a
hook
and
is
accessible
which
is
something
that
POM
really
has
to
be
to
make
it
with
their
chosen
style
of
music.
