Outside of Operator, Paul took the stage October 11, 2006 with Sammy Hagar and guests for Sammy's Annual Birthday Bash in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Along with Sammy, Paul was swapping riffs with Michael Anthony and Vinnie Paul (Pantera, Damage Plan). Songs included a jam session cover of Rock & Roll (Led Zeppelin), the Cabo Wabo Cantina was jumping.

More than a year after Paul had ended his professional association with Puddle, it seemed Paul Phillips had a new admirer, not by someone who was a fan, but someone out to ruin his identity. Beginning back in June of 2006, a man had been representing himself specifically as Paul Phillips, guitarist of Puddle while committing crimes and assaults on women in the Illinois area. It wasn't until the show America's Most Wanted profiled and reenacted the crimes that the perpetrator was apprehended and the fans became aware of just how serious this issue was. Within a few days of airing on nationwide FOX stations on September 16, the alleged suspect was caught in Nashville, TN, barely capturing him hours before he was to be released from a mental facility September 18. It brought an end to the drama for Paul, who was targeted for unknown reasons, and can rest knowing there is no doubt he had become an unwilling victim.

PUDDLE OF MUDD 2000-2005

We have followed Paul Phillips on the rise in his career as the guitarist for Puddle of Mudd from 2001-2005 and his journey now continues into 2008 as Paul will soon be on the road again touring with Operator. His history with Puddle has been written, the time to move forward has come. The story with Puddle ends and another adventure begins as Chapter 2 gets under way as he works insistently to make his mark in the history of rock and roll music.

Best wishes to Paul in wherever his music takes him, on the road with Operator or with any other venture he may pursue, he is truly deserving of all the good things that come his way.
