Fans
may
be
restlessly
waiting
for
the
new
Puddle
of
Mudd
album
but
frontman
Wes
Scantlin
may
be
the
most
impatient
of
all.
"It's
been
a
long
time,"
Scantlin
told
Popeater.
"If
there's
anybody
on
this
whole
entire
planet
that
would
like
to
see
a
Puddle
of
Mudd
record
come
out,
it's
me."
The
long
wait
for
the
follow-up
to
2003's
'Life
on
Display'
comes
to
an
end
this
October
when
the
band
releases
'Famous,'
a
title
that
holds
a
little
irony.
"I
didn't
get
in
this
business
to
be
famous;
I
got
in
this
business
to
write
music,"
Scantlin
said.
"I
started
playing
guitar
when
I
was
11
or
12,
and
I
didn't
ever
really
look
at
the
fame
aspect
of
it.
I
just
wanted
to
write
some
cool
songs
and
figure
out
how
to
play
other
people's
songs
--
which
I
never
was
very
good
at.
My
mom
said,
'Listen,
write
your
own
songs.'
So
I
started
to
write
my
own
tunes."While
Scantlin
is
delving
into
the
new
album
--
including
the
title
track
and
'Psycho,'
which
he
says
will
be
the
next
single
--
he
hasn't
completely
stopped
tackling
other's
tunes.
Case
in
point:
Nirvana's
'Breed.'
"[It's]
so
sick
to
play
live,"
he
said.
"It's
amazing.
Nirvana
is
one
of
my
favorite
bands.
I
got
really
teary-eyed
when
Kurt
passed
away.
I
know
that
when
we
rock
it,
Kurt's
down
there
rocking
it
with
us.
I
can
feel
him
onstage
with
me."
