Tantric, the opening band was in the studio yesterday and did an interview segment. The band had good things to say about POM. They had not met the guys yet, but looked forward to the show. They think they (POM) have great songs and are a great band and think this billing is great both bands together. The DJ said he heard Wes was crazy, and someone from Tantric said he heard that too, lol. They mentioned them all performing and it just happened to be 420 day. Tantric played one acoustic song, a Fleetwood Mac cover.

Here is a transcript from the live interview Wes did with TK 101's DJ Candy from the venue last night before show time.

Candy: We are here on the bus with Puddle of Mudd's bus with Wes Scantlin, hi how are you?

Wes: On the back of the bus...

Candy: How are ya?

Wes: I am good.

Candy: It's an honor to meet you sir.

Wes: It's an honor to meet you too, my love...

Candy: I've got a million questions for you, actually some of the fans out front helped me write the interview and you have a million fans here too which is great. Did you have a name before Puddle of Mudd?

Wes: I was in another band called Good Question, it was the name of a band I was in. I don't remember it too much before that time.

Candy: Who were your inspirations, who made you want to start singing, play guitar?

Wes: I think it was my mom. She used to sing in this cover band and I got to go watch her play sometimes and I just thought it was really cool, and she could sing real good you know.

Candy: So your mom must have been supportive in all this, most moms are like No, get a job, was your mom like that or was she like 'rock on'.

Wes: Yeah, she was the biggest supporter out of the parental unit, yes my father definitely didn't have much to say about it but he just definitely was wanting me to be like a salesman or something.

Candy: That's what parents do. I can't believe how unaffected you guys are, just meeting you, Kelly you have to agree this is like the most friendly band we have ever met.

Kelly: Absolutely!

Candy: How do you remain unaffected after all your success?

Wes: Um, I don't know, I think maybe it's my family, my son, you know there is really no reason to become a jerkwad...

Candy: But so many are.

Wes: I know but hey I just don't want to be one of those guys, hey so you know.

Candy: You just don't meet so many people that are so unaffected like you, that was one of my own questions by the way, everybody upfront tonight wanted to know if you are still friends with Fred Durst.

Wes: Yeah man, Fred is cool, I don't speak to him that much, but yeah he is a cool guy, there is nothing wrong with the guy, he gets upset from time to time (inaudible) just like I do so, but he's good, I have not seen him for a while, but I am sure I will see him when I get back.

Candy: You guys are from Kansas City, is that right? And I thought you were kind of a new band, I did not start hearing about you till 1999, 2000 maybe were you around in 93-94? Cause somebody said they saw you with White Zombie and Pantera.

Wes: Uh I don' know if we were playing with White Zombie or Pantera, but we played a long..well actually this whole thing began in like 93, a long, long time ago, you know so I just happened to be the only dude that was basically left standing, everybody else kind of had jobs, girlfriends, or wives and kids and they kind of put their guns down you know, and I was the one left standing with my guitar still, you know.

Candy: So that's what I heard, you almost went the way of the job, I guess, that you were just about... that is what I had read. Before you guys came out we got this thing that said well, he almost went the way of the job, and then you just got signed.

Wes: Yeah, I almost did the... I was going to move to New Orleans and be a bartender and make some good hard cash, but fortunately it did not pan out like that and I got a phone call and I just had to jump out of my shoes and go to L.A. and start doing this whole thing again you know. And it was exciting, very hard and stressful but you know a lot of good memories a lot of bad memories but at least we are sitting here now and life's good you know.

Candy: You're happy, we're happy too, you touch all of us, I know it sounds like a line doesn't but it does your music is great and we can't wait to see you tonight.

Wes: Thank you very much, I"ll sing my brains out for everybody!

Candy: We love ya, thanks again this is Wes Scantlin in the Puddle of Mudd tour bus, and Candy for the rock station, Thank you Wes.

Wes: Thank you sweetie!
