Puddle Of Mudd Drummer Defects To 3DD

3 Doors Down has drafted Puddle Of Mudd drummer Greg Upchurch to join its ranks, replacing the recently exited Daniel Adair. Calling Upchurch "a brilliant drummer," 3DD singer Brad Arnold says, "We're looking forward to a long relationship with him."

Upchurch will be behind the kit when 3 Doors Down opens a tour Saturday (Feb. 12) in Daytona, Fla. The group will be touring in support of "Seventeen Days," due in stores tomorrow (Feb. 8) via Republic/Universal.

Adair has left the band "for other things," according to a statement from 3 Doors Down confirming Upchurch's addition to the group. Rumors have him joining the lineup of Canadian act Nickelback, which recently parted ways with Ryan "Nik" Vikedal. A Nickelback spokesperson was unable to confirm such a move.

A Puddle Of Mudd spokesperson confirmed Upchurch's new gig. No other information about the band's activities was available at deadline.
